Parent college Lesson3 | 可持续发展 Sunstainability.人、经济、地球

随着垃圾分类的贯彻执行,拯救生态平衡,保护地球母亲,善待自己与造福子孙后代等看似遥远的“口号”类词语频繁出现在我们的视野里,而这一切都是我们牢记在心的“可持续发展”的一部分。

With the implementation of waste sorting, saving the ecological balance, protecting Mother Earth, treating yourself well and the future generations and other seemingly distant "slogan" words frequently appear in our vision, and all of this is part of sustainability that we keep in mind.






10月9日,在西安德闳的风雨操场中,德闳的孩子们和家长们分别进行了可持续发展话题的讨论、实践,将 “ 可持续发展 ”  =  “ 环境保护 ” 扩展到“ 人 ”、“ 经济 ”的层面。

On October 9th, in the indoor playground in Dehong Xi'an International School, the children and parents of the school conducted discussion and practice on the topic of sustainability, and relating “sustainability” to be equal to  “Environmental protection” allevating to the level of “people” and “economics”.

What is sustainability?



可持续发展或永续发展是指在保护环境的条件下既满足当代人的需求,又以不损害后代人的需求为前提的发展模式。

Sustainability refers to adevelopment model, under the conditions of protecting the environment, that satisfies both the needs of the present and at the same time, not damaging the needs of future generations.

学生小课堂世界大课堂


我们总说孩子们就象征着“希望”,他们是父母的希望,学校的希望,祖国的希望,地球的希望,德闳的每位家长和老师都深刻的知道:我们要从小培养孩子们的可持续发展思维,让他们成长为可以把自己的未来握在自己手中的孩子。

We always say that children symbolises "hope". They are the hope of parents, the hope of the school, the hope of the motherland, the hope of the earth. Every parent and teacher of Dehong knows profoundly: we must train the children from childhood.Sustainability thinking allows them to grow into whom can hold their future in their own hands.



我们通过认识种子的互动游戏了解到一株植物的成长衍变,了解到每个生命体之间的共通性

We learned about the growthand development of a plant through the interactive game of knowing seeds, and learned the commonality between each living body.



通过“植物的生长需要哪些条件”的主题绘画让孩子们挖掘自己脑海中对生命的认知,最后利用废旧物品回收——纸杯,制作植物生长容器,从而再次观察、感受生命体的成长,建立完整的可持续发展意识。

Through painting with the theme “What are the conditions for the growth of plants?”, children can dig into their own mind about life, and finally use the recycling of waste-materials – paper cups to make plant containers, so that they can observe and feel the growth of life again. Completing the  awareness of sustainability.

家长小行为孩子大影响


总说家长就是孩子们最好的老师,孩子有一双奇妙的眼睛,就像照相机一样,看过便会去模仿,随后便养成了习惯。

We always say that parentsa re the best teachers for the children. Children have a pair of eyes, just like a camera, they imitate, and then they evelop habits.

 


对可持续发展有认知的家长来说,深入了解可持续发展,多维度理解可持续发展是能够更好引导孩子的必要功课。

For parents who are aware of sustainability, a deep and multi-dimensional facet of understanding sustainability are necessary preparations to guide children better.

教职员工讨论会


最后老师们也根据“可持续发展“的命题进行了谈论交流,更好的理解、贯彻可持续发展,将可持续发展融入到生活和工作中,成为孩子们的榜样,培养具有“可持续发展”思维的孩子。

Finally, the teachers also talked about the "sustainability" proposition, better understanding on how to implement sustainability, integrate sustainability into life and work to become a role model for children, while cultivating "Think Sustainability” children.

我就觉得,什么渊博学识,富贵,都不如拥有在这个地球上最基本的生存权来得重要。减少使用塑料袋,我们的一点小小作为,将会是我们可以为子孙后代所做的最大善事。

I feel that any profound and know ledgeable is not as important as having the most basic right to life on this planet.  A little step of reducing the use of plastic bags, will be the best thing that we can do for our future generations.


长期利益、整体利益,才能使子孙后代能够永续发展和安居乐业,而环境保护是可持续发展的重要方面,所以要从自我做起,全家马上实施行动:家里杜绝塑料用品,严格注重垃圾分类,减少一次性用品的使用。

Turning partial development into overall holistic and long-term interests will ensure that future generations can develop and live in peace and happiness. Also, environmental protection is an important aspect of sustainability, so we must start from “ourselves". The whole family comes to action immediately: eliminate plastic products at home, pay strict attention to garbage classification, and reducet he use of disposable products.


今天就开始,先从使用布袋购物开始。

From today, starting with shopping with bags.


我先准备个咖啡杯,再不用一次性咖啡杯了。

I have to prepare a coffee cup before I use a disposable coffee cup.

我觉得可持续发展课程特别有意义!在生活中我们要节约用水、节约用电、把剩下的饭菜果皮用作农作物和花草树木的肥料,节约用纸也可以把废纸做成再生纸二次使用。

I think the sustainability course is particularly meaningful! In our life, we need to save water, save electricity, use the remaining food peels as fertilizer for crops and flowersand trees, and save paper usage as well as make waste paper into recycled paper.

举一个小例子,十年前当我开始宣传使用儿童安全座椅的时候,没有人听。十年后,年轻人都会通过正规途径了解并购买儿童安全座椅。我们的政府,全球政策趋势,也越来越关注可持续发展领域。对于西安的孩子,他们在一个坐拥中国千年传统文化的都城学习,立足中国放眼全球,博通古今未来,是我对他们的期待。对于可持续发展,我希望西安的孩子们能从爱惜身边人、事、物做起。减少丢失、浪费,每一个小的改变,持之以恒,会有巨大影响。

To give a small example, whenI started promoting the use of child safety seats ten years ago, no one listened. Ten years later, young people will learn and buy child safety seats through formal channels. Our government, global policy trends, are also increasingly concerned about the field of sustainability. For Xi'an children,they are studying in a capital city with China's millennium traditional culture. For sustainability, I hope that the children of Xi'an can start from loving people around them, things and objects. Reducing loss, waste, everysmall change, with perseverance, will have a huge impact.

今天的可持续发展课程让孩子们认识了不同植物的种子及植物生长所需要的条件,孩子们都迫不及待地制作自己的小花盆,想要去看一粒种子发芽、生长、长成一株植物的过程,激发了他们对植物的关爱,对生命的热爱。

Today's sustainability curriculum allows children to identify different seeds and conditions for plantgrowth of different plants. Children can't wait to make their own small flowerpots. They want to see a seed sprouting and growing into a plant. The process inspired their love of plants and their love for life.

孩子、家长和老师们因为“可持续发展”而动容,有的都湿了眼眶,谁又希望因为自己的原因,留给孩子一片没有湛蓝的天空,一块没有青草的草原,一个没有冰川的北极,一个暗无天日的地下城。
Children, parents and teachers were moved , who would like to leave their children the sky without blue, a grassland without grass, an arctic without a glacier?
